[Introduction]
China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), held annually in Xiamen during Sept.8-11, is sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce(MOFCOM) and co-sponsored by UNCTAD, UNIDO, OECD, IFC, WAIPA, CCIIP. The UFI-approved CIFIT is the world's largest international investment promotion event aiming at bilateral investment cooperation.
The Organizing Committee of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade cordially requests the pleasure of your presence at the 12th CIFIT, scheduled for September 8-11, 2007 in Xiamen, China.
CIFIT is approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and held annually on September 8-11 in Xiamen, China. With a track record of 11 successful sessions, CIFIT is currently one of the world’s largest events for international investment promotion and the only event in the investment category approved by UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry), attracting more than 10,000 overseas visitors from over 100 countries and regions annually.
CIFIT is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, co-sponsored by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), and the China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP). CIFIT’s 52 member institutions, including the governments of the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government and some cities with independent economic planning, related national authorities and some national business councils and trade associations in mainland China, as well as the governments of Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, are involved in the organizing work of CIFIT and send delegations to attend the Fair. CIFIT showcases the investment environment across China, presents investment polices, and promotes business and investment projects and enterprise products. With its steadily increasing international influence, CIFIT grabs the attention of a rising number of developed and developing countries and numerous international economic organizations, which actively participate in the conferences and exhibition at the Fair. CIFIT is not only a vital platform for China to attract foreign capital, a leading channel for Chinese enterprises to expand overseas, and an optimal platform for countries and regions around the world to showcase their investment environment and locate investment partners; more importantly, it’s a barometer of international capital flows and a platform to feel the pulse of global economic trends and share business opportunities across the world.
During the 12th CIFIT, the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC will continue to host the International Investment Forum. The Ministry of Commerce and related national authorities of China and many overseas economic organizations and institutions will present a series of forums and seminars on hot topics relating to international investment promotion. China’s state leaders, dignitaries from foreign governments, eminent economists, renowned experts and scholars, and executives from multinational companies will address such forums and seminars.
The 11th CIFIT in 2007 drew a total of 13,158 overseas visitors from 119 countries and regions, and 415 institutions and enterprises in 93 countries and regions sent delegations to the Fair. The 12th CIFIT will continue to provide services for global investment and trade cooperation through exhibitions and demonstrations, project promotion seminars, policy discussions and consultancy, and information release.

[Layout of Exhibition Halls]
CIFIT is staged at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center in China, which consists of 13 exhibition areas in the Investment Hall, the Trade Hall and the Tourism Hall with.
(I) Investment Hall, located at Hall 1 at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, includes:
The Central Pavilion: located in Hall C, it showcases the brilliant achievements of China over 30 years of reforms and opening-up, as well as the priorities and results of the "Attracting FDI" and "Going Global" development strategies, and presents China's policies on attracting foreign capital and encouraging outward investment.
The Domestic Pavilion: located in Halls A and B, showcases mainland China's investment policies, investment climate and investment-related products.
The Overseas Pavilion: located in Halls C and D, consists of exhibition spaces for Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Oceania, Portuguese-speaking countries, and international friendship cities.
The Multinational Companies Pavilion: located in Hall C, showcases the images, products and China projects of multinational companies and Fortune 500 companies.
The Development Zones Pavilion: located in Hall E, showcases national-class economic and technological development zones, high-tech industry development zones, bonded zones, export processing zones, Taiwanese investment zones, agricultural demonstration zones, provincial-level development zones, and industrial parks.
The Modern Service Zones Pavilion: located in Hall E, showcases finance, insurance, securities, telecommunication and computer information services, chain operations, freight and logistics, property rights, consultancy, and brokerage institutions, enterprises' investment policies, and investment-related products.
Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Zones Pavilion: showcases the development planning and local investment policies and environments of foreign trade and economic cooperation zones, as well as the corporate images and investment intents of Chinese enterprise "going global".
The Property Rights Transaction Pavilion: located in Halls 3 in Exhibition Hall 2; also the venue of the concurrent "2008 China Property Rights Project Investment Fair"; showcases corporate and individual investments projects in the categories of property rights, industries, investments and services, and investment-related products.
(II) Investment Hall, located in Exhibition Hall 2 of Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, including:
The Equipment Manufacturing Industry Pavilion: located in Hall 2 in Exhibition Hall 2, showcases large-sized clean and high-efficiency power generation equipment, ultra-high voltage power transmission and transformation equipment, new-type high-tech garment or textile manufacturing equipment, and safety machinery and equipment for large-scaled mines.
The Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Products Pavilion: located in Hall 3 in Exhibition Hall 2, showcases energy efficient products and technologies, new materials, new energy and renewable energy, environmentally friendly household products, water conservation and water treatment, air purification equipment, energy efficiency and emission reduction equipment, and new rural energy developments.
The African Commodities Pavilion: located in Hall 4 in Exhibition Hall 2; also the site of the concurrent Second African Commodities Show; showcases local specialty commodities from Africa.
Overseas Chambers of Commerce & Taiwan Commodities Quarter: located in Hall 5 in Exhibition Hall 2, intended for Overseas Chambers of Commerce, Overseas Chambers of enterprises, enterprises from Taiwan and Taiwanese-invested enterprises, showcases the images and products of Overseas Chambers of Commerce, Overseas Chambers of enterprises and Taiwanese-invested enterprises.
(III) Tourism Hall (the venue of the 4th Straits Travel Fair ), located in Hall 1 in Exhibition Hall 2 of Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, showcases domestic and overseas tourism resources, tourism investment projects and tourism products and promoting tourism exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.
[Forums and Seminars]
The International Investment Forum, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, boasting China’s most authoritative forum on investment policy and international investment strategy, will feature Chinese state leaders, foreign dignitaries, principals of international economic organizations, prominent economists, and executives of renowned multinationals as speakers. Related national authorities will host a series of seminars on hot domestic and overseas investment topics themed around "Attracting FDI" and "Going Global".
During CIFIT, series of other concurrent events will include the Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Cooperation and Development Forum, Capital Forum, Forum on Cooperation with China’s International Sister Cities, the International Roundtable of Goodwill Chambers of Commerce, Forum on the Economic Zone on the Western Coast of the Taiwan Straits, Cross-Strait Tourism Forum, and the Investment Promotion Seminar of Overseas-Chinese Merchants.
In addition, governmental institutions from dozens of countries and regions, investment promotion agencies, Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, nationwide business councils, and relevant organizations and enterprises will present series of seminars and press conferences on hot global international investment topics, as well as on their respective industrial orientation policies, investment environments and investment projects.
[Matchmaking Symposium for Investment Projects]
Project Matchmaking Symposia, an important event at CIFIT, is envisaged to build rapid and high-effect platform for capital and projects, to provide lieu for face-to-face business conversation by investors and project holders.
Project Matchmaking Symposia fall into three categories: general matchmaking, specific matchmaking, and investor’s investment plan seminars.
General matchmaking includes the Matchmaking Symposium for FDI in China, the Matchmaking Symposium for outbound Investment by Chinese Enterprises, the Matchmaking Symposium for Domestic Investment Cooperation in China, and the Matchmaking Symposium for Third Country (Region) to Third Country (Region) Investment; It will focus on projects in infrastructure, energy, environmental protection, agriculture, machinery and equipment industries.
Specific matchmaking includes the Matchmaking Symposium for Investment Projects of Listed Companies, the Matchmaking Symposium for Investment Fund Projects, the Matchmaking Symposium for Brand Franchising, the High-profile Matchmaking Symposium between the Government and Enterprises, and the Matchmaking Symposium for Transportation Investment Projects, as well as the Matchmaking Symposium for Service Outsourcing, the Matchmaking Symposium for Property Rights Transactions, the Matchmaking Symposium for the Industrial Gradient Shift in Midwestern China, and the Matchmaking Symposium for Patent Technologies.
Investors’ investment plan seminars will invite enterprises or institutions with investment intents to release investment information.
