Wednesday,April 19,2006 Posted: 15:57 BJT(0757 GMT)  Namibian, April 18,2006

(Namibian, April 18,2006) The Ministry of Mines and Energy has announced that a fuel price increase – the second within three months- will come into effect a minute after midnight tonight. Unleaded petrol(95 octane) and lead-replacement petrol (93 octane) will cost 12 cents more, while the price of diesel will go up by 21 cents.
The new Walvis Bay pump prices will be as follows: N$5.39 a litre for unleaded petrol, N$5.37 a litre for lead-replacement petrol and N$5.30 a litre for diesel. Pump prices at inland destinations across the country will also change accordingly.
According to Mines and Energy Permanent Secretary Joseph Iita, because of conditions in the international and domestic oil markets, the Ministry had no choice but to pass on the cost to the consumer.
