The Namibian government has set the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for pilchard at 15000 tonnes, the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Abraham Iyamob, has announced. This is 10000 tonnes less than last year’s TAC.

The announcement of this year’s TAC follows a survey by the ministry, which indicated that the pilchard biomass is currently around 55000 tonnes in the country’s waters.
