| Chinese government donates to flood victims |

The People's Republic of China last week donated US$100,000, which will go towards assisting flood victim in the north and northeastern parts of the country.
The funds were handed over by the Chinese ambassador to Namibia, Ren Xiaoping, to Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Libertina Amathila.
The donation was in response to President Hifikepunye Pohamba’s appeal for aid from the international community to help the victims.
China Henan International Cooperation Group Co. Ltd., a Chinese construction company in Namibia, also donated 1000 bed quilts worth N$100,000 to the flood victims.
Zhonghe Resources (Namibia) Development (Pty) Ltd., a Chinese mining company in Namibia, donated N$50, 000 to the National Disaster Fund of Namibia.
The Chinese government has offered to train 12 people to assist in post-flood reconstruction programmes as well as in malaria control, HIV/AIDS prevention, and emergency medical treatment.
